This story had lots of elements in it…mystery, magic, love, tragedy etc. Personally, I found it a little hard to follow at times because I felt like I had skipped some info, but overall, it’s an interesting story with a happy ending. It had the most understanding parents I’ve ever read about, but at least the parent-child relationships weren’t turbulent
Read_Writes: The story was that of an evil ring. It granted the wishes of whoever owned it, however, it was at a price. Mostly, the ring was destructive.
Of course, I couldn’t help but compare it with Lord of the Rings theology. But this one is short and there is a witchcraft background to how the ring came to be magical.
The plotline is very light in terms creativity. A fantasy novel usually has much more world building or vivid ambiance. Still, it is a passable read.

I was quite moved when reading these heartwarming short-stories. Its well-written and quite engaging. The author is able to quickly develop the characters and effectively set the scenes. I found the dialogue to be direct yet it invokes so much emotion. I look forward to reading her next book.

I don’t know why reading these shorts makes me think of the heroines from fifties melodramas. There is this cold distance the characters have as if detached from reality, but their deluded world works in alignment with those they come in contact with. The last short in particular has a Written in the Wind feel. Too short in each story’s case to completely connect, but I love this author for swinging for the fences.

This was an interesting read and while it has potential, the book needs to be polished. While the storyline was fine, it was a little hard to follow because the book jumps around a bit. Good characters though.
